Sports Design Group was engaged to undertake the detailed design and documentation of a four-lane cricket net facility, incorporating retractable netting and a dedicated GPO unit to provide a flexible and functional training environment.

The cricket nets were constructed on a disused car park, transforming an underutilised area into a purpose-built community sporting facility as part of the West Gate Tunnel project.

In addition to the design and documentation, Sports Design Group was engaged as Project Manager, providing ongoing support to Council throughout the construction process. SDG assisted with project coordination, contractor liaison, construction oversight and resolution of issues as they arose onsite.

The project demonstrates SDG's ability to deliver practical sporting facilities within challenging existing sites, while providing end-to-end design and project management support from concept through to construction.

Sports Design Group completed the detailed design and documentation of a four-lane cricket net facility, incorporating a dedicated GPO unit and flexible infrastructure to support a range of sporting activities.

The facility was designed as a multi-purpose training space, with a multi-use goal system installed along the eastern side of the nets to accommodate both basketball and futsal activities.

To further expand the facility’s sporting capabilities, the design incorporated a dedicated golf practice cage, providing an additional training opportunity for local golf players. Purpose-built storage facilities for AFL goals were also incorporated to support the broader use and management of the sporting precinct.

The project demonstrates Sports Design Group’s ability to develop flexible, multi-sport facilities that maximise the use of available space and provide adaptable infrastructure for multiple sporting activities and community users.
